And Now for a Nap

Things I have done in the last 48 hours:
  • Hosted the neighborhood 3rd of July party and firework show
  • Picked up hundreds of busted water balloon parts
  • Slept with the windows open and the fan on (our a/c doesn't cool the upstairs so well.)
  • Attended a birthday party for a 2 year old
  • Paid too much for fireworks (10 sparklers for $3!!)
  • Ate cherries
  • Lit more fireworks
  • Witnessed Robert's first and hopefully last 24 hour work day
  • Watched no less than 5 simultaneous big fireworks shows going on across the valley right from our own backyard
  • Felt the tender mercies of the Lord
  • Prepared my first Young Women's lesson as 2nd counselor
  • Made a little space in the garage
  • Scarfed down pancakes, hash browns and sausage in the church parking lot
  • Practiced strategic clothes laundering
  • Watched Mrs. Miniver on DVD
  • Cried while singing "The Star Spangled Banner"

All of these sounds wonderful, sounds like you enjoyed your 4th of July! BTW-I ALWAYS cry when I sing any patriotic song. I get it from my Mom, sometimes I really hate that I'm such a crier.

I get teary over patriotic songs too!

Why are you preparing a lesson if you're the counselor? Why aren't you preparing activities?

I can say "ditto" to a lot of those! Sounds like a busy yet wonderful weekend. I can sing all the other patriotic songs fine without crying, but for some reason the Star Spangled Banner always gets me.

It was the first sunday of the month, so we were all together.

When I sing the Star Spangled Banner, I just picture those men holding up our flag through the night, and people watching from afar seeing it in the light of the bomb blasts. The struggle, the dedication and patriotism, the sacrifice! I'm so glad we won!

You're in the YW? Ha!

Actually, I'm sure you'll be great, but my first reaction was the rude, callous one, since you don't have any daughters. How did the lesson go?
