Lemony Fresh in Seattle

We just returned from an overnight trip to Seattle. While we were there, we packed in a lot of fun activities. We lunched at Pike's Place Market at a great place called Lowell's. We visited the Seattle Aquarium, had dinner at the Rainforest Cafe, spent a few hours at Experience Music Project and another hour or so at the Science Fiction Museum. We were able to stay at the lovely Embassy Suites in Bellvue and the kids wore themselves out swimming and relaxing the hot tub.

At Lowell's on our first day, we enjoyed some delicious fish and chips, shrimp and chips and a salmon burger. Jonah busied himself with the little lemon wedge that garnished his dish. He squeezed the lemon all over his shrimp, into his water and even into his mouth. He was pretty excited that even after he was done eating lunch, his fingers still tasted like lemon.

After lunch, we went to the Seattle Aquarium and there was a great exhibit where kids could reach in and touch star fish and sea anemones and all the other "fun" stuff that lives in the tide pools. Jonah had a great time doing this and was even braver than Ethan when it came to touching and feeling. He got his hands right in there and felt around, even though the water was cold. He let a star fish's suction cups tickle his fingers and he even wiggled his digits around in a sea anemone, which Ethan thought for sure would sting! (It didn't, of course)

After the aquarium, we were in the car heading out to dinner. From the back seat, Jonah announced: "Hey, my fingers don't taste like lemon any more!"

I'm glad you had such a good time. With this update on your blog it looks like my phone call to hear all about your trip wasn't needed. I hope your trip to Seaside is just as enjoyable.

I'm half an hour from Seattle. Next time give me a call. I have free guest passes to the aquarium and zoo.

I'm glad you had fun. I haven't been to the SF museum. I think my inlaws would really be into that. Too bad they don't have a Steamy Romance novel museum too - they'd love that. Actually, nevermind. THANK GOODNESS they don't have a steamy romance novel museum.

I should have gotten in touch with you about Seattle. We were only there for about 24 hours and were not super planned out, so we did a little improvising. When we drove home on Thursday afternoon, it took us over an hour just to get from Seattle to Tacoma and it was slow until we got to Olympia too.

The Science Fiction Museum was a lot of fun, but I was a little creeped out that most of the stuff was from Paul Allen's personal collection. (I mean, the money he must have spent on this stuff alone was probably outrageous, and it was a little "geeky" to think that one person would be so obsessed with SciFi) Isaac was a little scared because it was dark and there was spacey music playing.

OK, I need to go read HP7.
