Don't Hate Me But...

I'm ready to take down the tree.

Sorry to be blunt, but I felt it was best to just be out with it. I want to remove all the ornaments, pack them up in our storage bin, unplug the tree and break it down into its three separate parts, put it in its box and stow everything away in the garage.

I floated this idea on my Facebook page and instantly got three messages telling me I was wrong, wrong, wrong.

Is it so bad that I'm tired of Christmas? Seems like it's been everywhere for about 2 months now. No other holiday or activity (except baseball season and elections) lasts this long. The music, the decorations, the advertisements the snacks: Enough already.

If that makes me a Scrooge, then turn the heat down and slash the kid's allowances...I'm Scrooge.

I'm ready for something new. Something fresh and original. Something that ends in '9.'

I'm also ready for the kids to go back to school (that, too, has lasted long enough) and I'm ready to get started on some exciting new goals.

I just feel like making a clean sweep and starting fresh.

Doesn't that sound nice to anyone else?

I am a Christmas fanatic (And refuse to start listening to music, decorating, etc until AFTER Thanksgiving), but I can relate to looking forward to the New Year. For one thing, I'm starting to get sweeted out (but I should have enough endurance to finish your tin of candy ;-)).

Can we look forward to a blog about your exciting new goals?! Now I'm curious! :-)

Afton, I think you'll see from my blog (updated, thank you very much!) that I can agree on most levels. :) Something about taking the tree down, though, that makes it so final. I think part of it is that we got our tree a little later this year, so it's only been up for two weeks. There is definitely something innate in us to start fresh after Christmas, and I'm sure it is partly due to the fact that we have been snacking & eating & vegging out for days at a time! :)

New goals? Well, here's a hint: Wii Fit told me I was 50 years old.

So rude!

Yes indeed! Sounds wonderful. I've heard great things about Wii Fit, making me almost wish we would have bought that instead of an XBOX. I ended up throwing away a bunch of treats we had laying around this morning because I am so sick of seeing them, eating them, and feeling sick because of them! (I don't mean to sound ungrateful). I am so ready for a nice strong "cleanse", healthy foods, some vigorous exercise, and to ring the new year in I thought I'd try yoga. Christmas was wonderful, but like you said, enough is enough...time to move on.

I love Christmas more than any other holiday and I have to admit I'm so ready to take it down too! We do the real tree and I'm sick of the pine needles everywhere. They actually clogged my vaccuum, it was a nasty clean up. You're not scrooge!

I'm with ya. I'm ready for the tree to be put away. Like Senia, we don't start Christmas till after Thanksgiving... and 3-4 weeks is plenty! I'm thinking I need to look into a Wii fit too!
